89 verses of Offerings
Today (2/26/09) we read chapter 7 of Numbers. Numbers 7 is 89 verses. From verse 12 to verse 88 it is very repetitive. From verse 12 to verse 88 it is very repetitive. From verse 12 to verse 88 it is very repetitive...you get the idea.
another barn?
Here is a quote and a blog post to continue with what we've been learning lately...where does your spending show your treasure is?
"I do not see how we can read the New Testament, then look at two billion unevangelized people, and still build another barn for ourselves." -John Piper; Brothers, We are NOT Professionals; pg.170

A pastor's fear...turned prayer
God rescued the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. He performed mighty signs and devastating plagues to do so. He parted the Red Sea for the Israelites and drowned the Egyptian army in that same sea. He made bitter water sweet, he provided bread from heaven, and he made water come from a rock. He then revealed himself to them by speaking to them directly the ten commandments.
Business Casual
My wife and I have been invited to a Celebration Dinner for the Emmaus Center to learn about their work and network with other ministry professionals in the area. When I inquired as to the attire expectations I was told it was "business casual".
Sometimes it's good NOT to have a favorite.
I have lots of favorites. Favorite college team (Go Cougs!)
, favorite football team (next year, Seahawks), favorite foods (like BBQ meatballs), favorite ice cream (Phish Food)
, favorite coffee (Starbuck's Christmas blend), and so on.
Sometimes, though, it is good NOT to have a favorite...
God is not partial
