Of First Importance (a link)
Here is a link to a blog I read regularly. Today they have a great quote from D.A. Carson. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the quote...or about anything I blog. Just email me keith@qbc.org.

A word from Spurgeon...
The following excerpt is from "Constancy and Inconstancy—A Contrast," a sermon preached by Charles H. Spurgeon Sunday morning, 24 January 1869, at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, London.
Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, and Fire Insurance
Santa Clause is make believe.
The
is make believe.
Sometimes make believe is easier than reality. Sometimes the imaginary friend is nicer than the real friend. Reality can seem too hard. It's hard to explain Santa Clause isn't real...it can cause pain to tell a child that the tooth fairy is fiction.
Psalm 30 message follow up
"To you, O LORD, I cry, and to the Lord I plead for mercy" Psalm 30:8
You might remember from Sunday's message (Overjoyed!) when I talked about David crying out for God's mercy. David didn't:
-Give God his plans
-Recite some ritualistic chant
-Try to earn God's favor through good behavior
He just cried out to the Lord for mercy. Why did David just cry out and not do those other things? God's mercy was his only hope!

Pray for Christians in Hostile Situations
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
