Jim Brown

Hello all you people who might possibly be reading this currently in a timely manner to which you will be able to complete said reading of this ridculously long and randomly worded and completely run-on sentence! My name is Jim Brown, and I "run" the Youth and Worship ministries at QBC. I have been in the Tri-Cities area since 1988 (wow that seems like a long time ago!) save a 4-year college stint in Salem, OR while I attended, and graduated from, Western Baptist College, and I started this position January 16th, 2008! It's been a rough journey to get to this point, but I know now that this is where God wants me!

My passion for our Youth is not only to see them learn Godly principles that they can apply to their lives, but to understand why God does the things He does. Growing up in church I remember receiving a lot of "do this, don't do that" kind of teaching(s); and while those are great principles to learn, and things the Youth need to learn, God was never made real to me. This is my passion...to make God real to the youth of today!

On the performing arts side of things my passion doesn't really change. I know there are a lot of people who "grew up in church" and learned what was right and wrong. I hope to impart some of the knowledge God has so graciously given me of Himself to others through the Worship we bring at QBC. Worship to me is not about the music, or how great someone sings, or any of that superficial stuff. What worship considers is the worshippers heart, and how we can lay that heart on the table and then at the foot of the cross due to our thankfulness for what God has done in our lives! Worship is sometimes thought of as an experience that people have during singing times, and that's true to a point, but what really matters is seeking God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength! That's worship!
