The Best Sermon Ever (Part 5: Meekness)

Scripture for today's sermon:
Matthew 5:5

The beginning and ending of the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3 and 5:10) both indicate present tense. Everything in between is future tense. As Christians we are already members of the kingdom of heaven, which is not yet fully realized.

Matthew 5:5

The Meek shall inherit the earth.

Our flesh, in this world, thinks this is crazy. The world says that meek = weak and we must not be weak. Meekness is not weakness.

What is meek?

  • Does not self justify
  • Is not defensive.
  • To have trust in the Lord

    • Numbers 12:1-9

    Meekness is commended by the Lord.

    Psalm 37:11

    Isaiah 55:8-9
    Trust the Lord! Heaven is higher than the earth and the Lord knows more that we do.

    We should want it and expect the Lord to help us.
