Answer these questions anytime you are listening to a sermon.

1: What is being said about who God is?

2: How is that good news for me generally and specifically?

3: How is this good news for my local church?

In your suffering, stay. Submit, and bless your persecutors, as worship for God. Keep your conduct honorable. Be content in Jesus.

We cannot fix our own problems by ourselves, no matter how much we believe that we can, we cannot. Do not believe the prosperity gospel.

The hard teaching of scripture is for our own good, even if it does not seem like it.

Hard to feel betterness of obedience to the hard teaching, and to worship God. We are in an impossible situation with pain and suffering, and it may not end, we need to stay in it because it’s better. ¬†God is not unaware that the teaching that he is calling us to do is difficult. He has provided us with one another to help, support, and if need be lovingly correct in the pursuit of that teaching.

When evil is done toward us, we want to return it. That is God that is hardwired in us, however, justice and vengeance is done by God. We are called to bless those who persecute us. Jesus tells us to love our enemies.

Suffering produces endurance, which in turn produces character, which then produces hope.
