Scripture for this message:
1 Corinthians 2:1-16
Reminders of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and mercy. (Isaiah 63:7-14)
Lamenting God’s punishment. (Isaiah 63:15-19)
Prayer that God would show His power. (Isaiah 64:1-4)
Recognizing the Israelites’ disobedience. (Isaiah 64:5-7)
Prayer for relief (Isaiah 64:8-12)
Good news of things to come (Isaiah 65:17-25)
Difficult for the Israelites to see God’s goodness and faithfulness as they watched the Syrian armies invade.
Isaiah understands that God is completely just in punishing the Israelites’ rebellion.
Isaiah prays honestly about his people’s circumstances and failures, and also shows how he can have hope in God. God’s redemption is not based on our value (otherwise we would not be redeemed) but based on Himself.
