Scripture for today’s sermon:
Leviticus 19

Last week’s sermon “Investing in the Kingdom” left some questions. How do we get there? Holiness.

Holy or holiness is: separation from what is defective. We are Called to Be Holy (1 Peter 1:13-25)

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
•”Therefore, preparing your minds for action” – Peter tells us to get our head’s in the game.
•”being sober-minded” – Focus on the Kingdom of God (cf.Matthew 6:33)
•”set your hope fully on the grace” – put all of our hope in Jesus

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
•”passions of your former ignorance” – our passions still exist, but now we are called out of ignorance to holiness
•”as he who called you is holy” – we are called by name
•”be holy in all your conduct”
•”since it is written ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy'”
