1 Corinthians 10:1-5
God will never leave us nor forsake us no matter what is happening around us and to us. God always has a plan no matter what. God requires us to believe and obey his word.
Two aspects of preparation for the Israelites
- Preparations at Gilgal-Circumcision
The parents of this generation died in the desert because of their unbelief and their children were able to pass into the land promised to them by God. The males must be circumcised as a mark of identification as an Israelite in order to receive the land which God had promised them.
We can profess Christ but not possess Christ. You must obey and accept God’s sovereignty in your life to be a child of God.
God rolled away the reproach of the older generation at Gilgal.
Our circumcision is of the heart. It is the radical surgery of our heart and is God’s challenge to us to live as one of his marked people.
2. The Passover observance
This is the first Passover celebration since Mt. Sinai. After the Israelites ate of the fruit of the land the daily manna ceased. Christ is now our Passover. We must spirtually prepared if we are going to successfully do the Lord’s work and successfully glorify His name.
